He encouraged anyone interested to join future meetings. Walter had conducted a review of interconnect proposal status. BIRD 155: Arpad showed the latest update. Radek described the various changes made. The BIRD is now written relative to the IBIS 6.0 candidate instead of IBIS 5.1. Some section numbers have changed and rules for Usage Dep have changed to say that any reserved parameter that can be Out can be Dep. Todd asked if GetWave_Exists and Init_Returns_Impulse could be returned by AMI_Resolve. Radek said no, those are Info. Todd asked if this could be used for BIRD 160 parameters, even though those are Info. Radek said those are not reserved, this rule is only about reserved. Arpad showed BIRD 160.1. Todd said Tx_Rj could only be Info. Parameters passed to [External Model] or [External Circuit] can only be In or Info. There are different rules for .ami and non-.ami files. Todd said models can have more than 3 corners and jitter can be corner dependent. AMI_Resolve must be able to accommodate that. Radek said we have to discuss what to do with reserved parameters. He asked what to do with model specific Dep parameters. Ambrish said TStoneFile could become reserved as in BIRD 160. Radek said AMI_Resolve results should be passed to external circuits. Todd said he had assumed AMI_Resolve would be called before channel extraction, but it appeared Radek assumed otherwise. Arpad showed the part of BIRD 155 that confirms Todd's assumption. Todd described a scenario where the tool would have to choose one of four on-die circuits based on corner. He said there would be no way for the DLL to pass that out if it is Info. Radek suggested we could allow those to be Dep. Arpad proposed that we would need another BIRD to extend BIRD 160 to allow usage Dep to be passed to circuits. Radek noted that this could apply to Model_Specific. He suggested this might be written into the AMI flow. Arpad noted that a non-AMI model with circuit parameters could not have dependencies resolved unless an AMI_Resolve-only DLL is allowed. Bob wondered if the sentence about the Usage of dependent parameters should be in other notes, above. Arpad expressed the hope that we could review these changes and vote next week. AR: Radek update BIRD 155.1 to use BIRD 160 language adjusted for IBIS 6.0 BIRD 147: Ambrish showed BIRD 147 and described the recent changes. It is now written relative to IBIS 6.0. Radek noted a grammatical error. Mike asked if it would be posted with or without markup. Bob suggested the new parameter Formats should not be limited to BCI files. Radek said there should be separate discussion of AMI and BCI parameters. New Formats are Bits and Bit_Pattern. Todd asked what this would be used for, and suggested it should be defined for BCI only. Walter said only the EDA tool generates a stimulus pattern, and it should be Info not In. Ambrish said the example would need to be corrected. Walter suggested this could be a set of tree branches instead of a new Format. Ambrish suggested Walter could write that proposal. ------------- Next meeting: 27 August 2013 12:00pm PT ------------- IBIS Interconnect SPICE Wish List: 1) Simulator directives
